About Grothjan Artistic Woodworks
When I got into the trades business over 20 years ago I never imagined I would be creating furniture, or better put, family heirlooms. I started working with wood before I was out of high school. Taking a two-year coarse in “Building Trades” at a local trades school during high school and working in a fine cabinetry shop on my summer breaks started my journey through true craftsmanship. Becoming a subcontractor directly out of high school furthered my journey. I was young and inexperienced but had a hunger to produce a beautiful product and happy customers. Within two years word of mouth traveled the mid-Michigan area and I was swamped with custom finish trim jobs building massive hardwood built-in libraries, custom closets, custom kitchens & baths among many other fine carpentry creations.
In 2004 I decided to start a new chapter in life and moved to Nashville TN. Through the years of woodworking and remodeling I began getting requests for fine quality, hand crafted furniture. In 2012 my clients made the choice for me, it was time to predominately focus on building furniture. Since then I have never looked back!
